We can provide different types of evening meals for guests in the chateau (48 hours advance warning usually required).
Diana does all the cooking herself using where possible fresh produce from the chateau's own vegetable garden and local suppliers of meat and poultry. Watch this space for our own Chateau de la Puisaye lamb - on the menu from 2009!
The first guest to book a meal on a particular night determines the type of meal served (see below).
Very exceptionally, for family reasons, upon reservation, we may ask our guests to eat in one of the many excellent restaurants in the area.
Normandy Platter (16 Euros TTC per head) : Local cold meats, cheeses, salad, fruit tart and cider (wine 2 Euros supplement). An ideal meal for those arriving late, or if you simply want a light meal. In the Summer, if the weather permits, guests can take this meal outside themselves on a tray as a picnic.
Family Meal (35 Euros TTC per head) : Starter, Main course, Cheese and Dessert, including aperitif, ½ bottle wine and coffee. A typical menu would be : Normandy aperitif, Rillettes of pork, Chicken in cider, Normandy cheeses and fruit tart, served with a St Chinian wine.
Gourmand Meal (55 Euros TTC per head) ; Champagne aperitif, 'amuse-bouche', starter, calvados and home-made apple or pear sorbet, main course and dessert, including ½ wine and coffee. A typical menu would be Coupe de Champagne (nature ou 'normande'), home made paté de foie gras with poached apple, a 'trou normand', stuffed guinea fowl, cheese platter and a 'délices de dessert' - selection of desserts, served with a Côte de Rhone.
Children's meals and picnics are made to measure. We can sometimes provide an early meal. Please discuss on booking.
Special anniversary, celebration and end of year dinners (95 Euros) can be made to measure. Please contact us for details.
